Diving into the Deep End

I don't know how exactly, but I messed up my last Monday Holiday Update again. I said that World Juggler's Day was after Eat your Vegetables day, but that was a lie- they were both on Wednesday. Thusly, everything was a day off and I skipped the Summer Solstice (and Father's Day) on Sunday. I'm sorry!

This week, for today's MONDAY HOLIDAY UPDATE, I'll be sure to get it right. I'm also going to keep it shorter than usual as we need to get ready for Emily and James' big day! Also, it's not yet in technicolor. That will come soon, I promise.

Today's holiday is absolutely delicious. It's National Chocolate Eclair Day! They're super easy to make and super delicious, not to mention great for a hot summer day. I reccomend eating one to finish off the day and not eating one at every meal, like Holiday Insights suggest. Because as deliciuos as that would be, that's a lot of sugar, fat, and carbs.

Tuesday is one of those fun holidays that's ridiculously easy to celebrate- National Pink Day. I shouldn't have to tell you how to celebrate that- dress in pink, eat pink foods, think pink thoughts! Ladies, this should be pretty easy. I intend in dressing in full pink splendor. And gentlemen, everyone should have at least one pink shirt. Guys often look better in pink than they expect. If not, buy one! Or buy a pink flower! Something to get in touch with your feminine side, as I'm sure that's the point of this lovely holiday. Even those who don all black and claim to hate pink can do something great for it today. Have some salmon, at least!

I'm excited for Wednesday's holiday. It's Swim a Lap day, which is ridiculously convenient for me. Every Wednesday I take these two sweet neighbor girls out to babysit them at the pool. And while usually it ends up being a day of them trying to drown me, perhaps this Wednesday I can enlighten them of the holiday. That'll definately get them willing to let me swim a lap...even if I have to pull them the whole way. Swimming laps is a fun, cool, easy way to excersize- and it's GREAT for you. So just do one and I'm sure you'll still feel fit, cool, and summery!

Thursday is a proud holiday for Illinoisans like myself. It's Log Cabin Day, which while it may not scream Illinois, does bring to mind a certain president by the name of Lincoln. He was famous for his log cabin. Other famous people have lived in log cabins, too! Like Joseph Smith, other old people, and the darling little man you buy with the Lincoln Logs set! (note the pun on linking logs...I totally JUST realized that...) Log Cabin Day is also a legit holiday, so make time to celebrate the people who have lived in them, the blessing we no longer have to, and maybe even go find one in a museum or build a fake one yourself!

Friday is a big day for us. While it is Beautician's Day and I should probably honor the lovely folks who make us just as lovely, it seems a tad more important to mention that's the day of Emily and James' wedding! This means there is a future holiday to honor for eternities to come- their anniversary! And what a lovely wedding it will be...in Nauvoo, surrounded by love, mosquitos, heat, family, friends, and more love. I honestly can't wait.

Saturday's holiday is one of those that you just know is perfect for summer. It's Sunglasses Day, which I think may be just as awesome (if not better) as Sunscreen Protection Day. Why is it better? you may ask. Sunglasses, number one, are much cooler than sunscreen. Think about it- any time in media you see people enjoying themselves out in the summer air, the cool kids always have sunglasses. And what do the fools have? Those big splotches of sunscreen on their noses! And the extra cool kids have to wear sunglasses indoors, too. They understand the danger of UV rays on their eyes, and they understand that they're just so awesome, UV likes to follow them wherever they go. Cool Kids everywhere should appreciate this holiday fo sho.

Sunday's holiday is honestly lame. I have to admit, I'm not too thrilled to celebrate Insurance Awareness Day. But it's there, and it's good to celebrate. Without insurance, I would personally cost my family a lot more than I should. Because of our insurance, my car accident wasn't insanely expensive. My broken foot didn't break our bank. All four of my teeth were impacted by my wisdom teeth, and insurance just loved that, too. So I guess we do have good reason to celebrate being in good hands. It makes life a lot easier.

"Summertime Guys" can be found by Nikki Cleary and is awfully appropriate for Wednesday
